A Nice Snook From This Afternoon At Honeymoon Island State Park

There’s a back story behind this video. So, I caught this snook, then right after while I was trying to get the camera on my phone going a catfish grabbed the bare hook and yanked the pole in the water. I thought it might be gone. I got in the water. I walked around, and swam around looking for it on the bottom. I came across a taught line across the bottom. It led me to the rod. I pulled it out of the water, then reeled up the line only to find a catfish on the end of the line. Unbelievable. I’ve never seen a catfish eat just a hook. One did today. What a fish tale. I’m glad I got my nearly new 150 dollar fishing pole back. The reel might end up freezing up, but at least I got the rod back. So, that’s the story behind the video.

Trout Fishing 3-Rooker Island in March

It was a late start considering the time of day. It was an early start considering what time I wake up. I got on the water in the early afternoon. It was a beautiful day today with murky water in some places and clear water in other. After a short trip through the intra-coastal waterway I quickly made it out to 3-rooker. I thought I saw my buddy Tyler in is Pathfinder so I decided to head out to where he might have been going, out to three rooker to enjoy the beautiful beach. Upon arrival and after a short drive down the rows of boats moored along the beach I realized he wasn’t out there. While driving I saw a boater catch a nice trout. I looked into the water in the area, “scouting” as they call it to see whatever I could see. I thought for sure snook were starting to arrive on the beaches for their spawn. After trying to catch them for a while with no luck I still thought they were snook. I was telling everyone who was fishing in the area, hey, there are snook over here. After a short while a couple boys walked over and started fishing with me. We tried for a while to catch them to no avail. It wasn’t until about 5 in the afternoon when the bite started to turn on. Stephen, the boy who got the spot figured out, who also asked if he could use my cast net to catch bait, finally hooked into a nice speckled trout. Thankfully he caught all the pinfish we needed to slay ’em. From there it was one after another. It was a great day of fishing with some really great people.
