Matt Kechele pulled his ski out on a glassy little little day down at the inlet with our friend John Akerman. What better thing to do on a small day down at the inlet than to tow into some wedging swell. Seeing John Akerman tear into liners on a skimboard dubbed over a track from the John John Florence movie is sure to delight. Continue reading Tow-Ats with Matt Kechele and John Akerman

Hurricane Matthew Makes Landfall: Sand Key Gallery
The gulf coast was going off today like it was wintertime. Large surf was exploding on the sandbars. Sand Key, aka the zoo, was packed as usual. It was hard to find a bit of shoulder room. Surfing NSB During Shark Attack Month
Gorkin, Geiselman, and Groms were showing up and blowing up. They surely had to dodge a few shark fins while out there at the shark bite captial of the world, New Smyrna Beach, during the month with the highest rates of shark attacks. It is not a small difference. Every month other than September, there is only around one shark attack. September gets, on average, 7 more shark bites during this month, many of them coming from the shark bite capitol of the world. And yesterday, there were three shark attacks. Luckily, the little spinners and blacktips swimming in those waters only nip at people.
Hermine Clip
As the rain was pouring down, Austin and I managed to get a quick clip of the shorebreak surf. Off in the background loomed a nasty squall storm. The rain from tropical storm Hermine poured for the whole day.
