Pinellas County Dredging 2018: Boats, Tractors, Sifter, and Tubing

It’s July 1st, 2018 today; county, state, and federal tax dollars are officially being used to create beaches on private beachfront property because of the recent passage of a bill that overrides local customary use policies on the beaches. It’s hard to believe so much money can be going into the pockets of private beachfront property. Monitoring your government’s uses of power isn’t the worst idea.  At least you can understand what’s going on, and make informed decisions about the few things you do have control over.

Honeymoon Renourishment: A Review From 2016

I was just going through posts to reorganize the opinion section of this site and came across this post from 2016. It’s a really great depiction of how ineffective the t-goins are. It’s an add on article for the recently written article titled, Honeymoon Island Beach Renourishment: He wants more, don’t give it to him. It was really only a year or less before all the sand placed on the beach dissapeared. T-goins suck!

From previous article:
The foreground of this image is of the beach closer to the existing T-groin. This section of beach was re-nourished with sand just this past year. As you can see there are a considerable amount of lime rocks on what is left of the beach.

Surprise Swell June 2018, 11:30am & 3:30pm

Snook were stacked up on the beach today. With the clearer than usual water the fishies were happy campers, able to see and breathe. On many rides they were seen cruising around. It was a mid-ougoing tide and the fish were sitting stacked up on the small rockpiles situated in between the two jetties. They were corralled into the pockets of rock sitting on the sandy spots. Others were along the inside edge of the sand bar. Most of them were way undersize, somewhere between a foot and a foot and a half long 12-18 inches. It would have been a great day to catch a bunch of way undersize snook.
