A Slow Moving Cold Front
A slow moving cold front is forecast to move over the northern gulf this weekend. The featured image above shows the low starting over near Texas, then gradually moving over Florida. The wind will start southwest, switch west, then go northwest. The swell is forecast to hold for about 3 days with significant size on just about every day. There may even be a little tiny clean wave left bright and early Monday morning. The temps will be cooling significantly, so you’ll want the rubber for this swell, maybe even a 3 mil on the cold mornings or breezy days after the cool down. You’re going to need to turn the heater on for this one. It’s time for the wave machine to start bringing us swell again regularly. Winter is officially here, our Florida winters anyway. Tides below:
Cold Front: It’s Heating Up
It’s really starting to heat up here in west central Florida now. Low 90s is starting to feel like summer with added humidity. Typically, this sensor runs a little above coastal sensor temps. A weather change is upon us today that might present an opportunity to find a nice wave on Monday evening. If it does appear from the slight increase in northwest wind on Monday afternoon behind the cold front it’ll be super fun. It’s great when surf comes up when the water warms up. Water temps are just below 80 degrees on Clearwater Beach. It may not be enough to make a wave. Keep an eye on it. A longboard wave could come up first thing Monday morning.
