Three Piers Video

Hurricane Hermine is out there churning away. This morning, when this video was shot, Hermine was still a tropical storm. This is tropical storm grade surf. Hermine was upgraded to a hurricane just before 4pm. The gnarly rain and wind that lasted for the rest of the day kicked in around noon. Not bad for a measly little tropical storm.

Surfing During Tropical Storm Hermine

The surf was moderately glassy this morning, and through most of the morning.  Around mid-day the storms and winds really started blasting the beaches.  The conditions are gnarlier near the coast.  The storm surge and waves are taking their toll on the beaches.  Most of west Florida is now under a tropical storm warning, and places as far south as Anclote are under a Hurricane watch.  The surf is still pumping.  The surf may be fun at a few spots, especially between the squalls.  The Pier 60 weather station says the wind is southeast, so surprise surprise, non-stop offshore winds.  Get out there if you see a break in the storms.  Unfortunately, Honeymoon and Sand Key are closed.  The swell continues tomorrow. Tomorrow afternoon/evening may be the time to surf tomorrow.
