Just as quick as the tropical wave moving across the African peninsulla and into the Atlantic built, so did it dissipated back into near nothingness. Still, the wave may be worth keeping an eye on. Enthusiasm with the hurricane season is met with a bleak outlook looking to the near future. Our chances to surf the gulf remains at a minimum. Another swash of southeast winds are going to move up into the southern gulf next week. Nothing but offshores and light winds are sure to persist.

Tarpon fishing is hot up here in north Pinellas. The bite is still on. Go cruise on the beach during these light windy week-day conditions, and you’ll see quite a few tarpon fisherman out there hunting the silver king. Pinfish and thread-fins are good baits for tarpon. Just wait until you jump your first tarpon. You’ll be hooked for life.

There’s a bit of skim rolling onto the beaches this morning from the air mass moving over the northern gulf. The buoy is trending upward. The winds will be light onshore all day. The southwest winds will continue through the week, but the skim is only around for the next day or two. The high tide just occurred. The low tide is around 5pm.
