We’re Transitioning into Summer

It’s not officially summer. June 20th is the official start of summer. Yet, expectations of a season, and trademark signs of that season appear at different times and in different ways across the country. I would be inclined to say it’s summer, however summer has some trademark things that aren’t technically here yet. Sure, we have the heat, sure, the bright sunny days, day in and day, out, absolutely. The absurd humidity is here, slowing creeping up from the south, day by day getting worse and worse. One of the most iconic things we see here all summer are the lightning storms. Unlike a lot of places we get small squally storms all throughout the summer. Storm can be only as large as a few small houses. The small storms with the lightning striking in random places sometimes during sunny parts of the day is kind of unforgettable. It’s scary and beautiful at the same time. You can also see some lightning bolts if you follow the local team, the Tampa Bay Lightning as they start off their playoffs against the Florida Panthers. They’ve got their work cut out for them. Scalloping is almost here as well. If you haven’t seen the summer storms from the water go rent a tall hotel or condo that overlooks a coastal area. Scalloping, while more dangerous, is also a really fun way to see the summer storms. GL Bolts, and enjoy the summer.
