The east coast is going to get a little love from a couple rounds of decent surf within the next couple weeks.
First, the early season cold front moving across the continent should enter the northwest Atlantic ocean within the next day or two. For east Florida cold fronts, the back side of the low and the wind created by the gradient between the trailing air mass and the air mass out front is what generates surf. So, when that low fully emerges into the Atlantic the surf will start to churn. Then, that surf will head towards the east coast beaches. The bigger day will have onshore winds, then a day or two of smaller cleanup is likely to follow.
Then, as Troical Storm Gaston gets closer he is going to a solid tropical storm. The storm may send solid surf all through next week. The wind at the beach is expected to be onshore through both events but the depression will have slightly lighter winds. Both events are looking overhead high at the right spots.
