John Akerman is a local skimboarding and wake skimming/skurfing professional. He started skimboarding regularly all up and down the beaches of the gulf coast. As a grom he could frequently be seen shredding at skim contests. He quickly learned some of the most innovative spin variation skimboarding tricks anyone had ever done. He progressed alongside many of the most innovative skimboarders to ever shred the gulf coast. Today, John Akerman frequently puts his board on rail.  He does rotation variations with ease. He surfs with as much or more creativity than anyone else along the gulf coast. His creative turns are challenging to complete, but you couldn’t tell based on how consistently he lands his tricks.
