Tiger Woods is Attending The Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Florida

The much anticipated start of the Valspar Championship round one on March 08 is rapidly approaching, and attendees can look forward to something they’ve never seen before. In preparation for the Masters, Tiger Woods has committed to playing Innisbrook’s Copperhead in Palm Harbor, Florida. He made the announcement on his Twitter account yesterday that he would be playing in two upcoming tournaments in Palm Harbor and Orlando, Florida. In this years Valspar Championship on the gulf coast he’ll be competing against players like Jordan Speith, Rory Mcilroy, and Sergio Garcia. Not completely unfamiliar to Innisbrook’s Copperhead Golf Course, Mr. Woods’ last round of competition on the course was back in 1996 for the JCPenny Classic in a mixed team event. It will be great to see such a well known and skilled golfer at this year’s Valspar Championship.

A Golfer’s Paradise

When the first few fronts start rolling in the climate in the area goes from bathing suit weather to cooler sweater weather, although through most of the winter you’ll find days warm enough for shorts and a collared t-shirt. During November the temperatures only have the most subtle drop, even steamy at times. During early Fall the best times to get onto the links are the days after the mild-moderate cold fronts push across the state, leaving comfortable air in the mornings and evenings in their wake. Fall and Spring are usually the best times to get onto the course, although deep in the heart of winter the greens are often rolling at their fastest speeds, and the overseeding has usually filled in to a plush green carpet-like fairway on the best courses.

Here in northern Pinellas County it’s a golfers paradise. We’ve got about 10 or more different golf courses within a 10 mile radius. Some of the many public courses are Lansbrook, Wentworth, Tarpon Springs, Innisbrook, Fox Hollow, Crescent Oaks, Chi Chi Rodriguez, and Dunedin. The completely private courses that require a membership are East Lake Woodlands, Countryside, and Cypress Run. Take your pick from any of these fantastic golf courses. The many courses give you choices like undulating greens designed to challenge righty or lefty gripped golfers, wide or narrow fairways, long or short courses, swampy gator filled courses or osprey and fox squirrel filled courses on high ground, low cost or extremely expensive, there’s something for everybody.
