This is the 10am advisory update with a storm track taking this hurricane’s energy and throwing it right at Tampa Bay. Most people will weather the storm. I see flooding as a problem for low lying areas. Go surfing! It doesn’t make landfall until tonight.
Shout out to the people at Arby’s still making me food at 6:45pm tonoght.

Suncoast Surf Shop Sells Garbage
Unfortunately, this board is just not working out. I guess I’m just going to have to go to the east coast to pick up a new one. This board is just trash. It probably says something about communist and socialist policies where the amount of effort you put forth doesn’t impact the reward you receive. This board came with a little sticker that said, Made in China. My recommendation is, don’t buy the trash that comes out of China or the garbage surfboards they’re trying to peddle at Suncoast Surf Shop. You might want to try going to the east coast to buy one.
The board doesn’t ride like it should and it’s shape is wack. The manufacturing is just garbage. Why are they selling this trash. I was riding it at honeymoon with a light crowd and the slightest ding destroyed the board, a regular collision. Kahekili was taking off on a wave, and we had the lightest board on board contact. It put a gnarly gash down near the tail by the fins. Then, just now, as I was taking a picture of the board for the last and final surf wax, you’re using too much article post, I leaned the board against the wall, only to have it fall over. It fell over as all of my other boards have 100 times before, except that there’s something wrong with this new board. Even the longboard falling over should come down with added weight, but wasn’t damaged anything like this board. When this brand new board hit the ground about 1/5 of the rail was completely shattered from the impact of the board simply falling over. That shouldn’t happen.
It rides like shit, it’s made like shit, and it’s not enough foam despite what the shop manager Jordy at Suncoast Surf Shop said. I’m really disappointed with it. Joe Nuzzo needs to make some changes.
Florida Red Tide as a State of Emergency
Shocking news that the State of Florida has issued a state of emergency for the annual red tide event happening in the southwestern portion of west Florida. What makes this event so unusual? It sounds inaccurate to suggest that this has been going on for 10 months. It’s doubtful that we had a K. brevis prevalence worth noting before the water temperatures got above 85 degrees. According to one news outlet funding will go to Pinellas in addition to affected counties. Pinellas hasn’t had red tide at all this summer, and we were surfing just three days ago without any red tide. With funding in place what type of uses will it go towards? It’s likely that it will be spent on discretionary expenditures, cleanup, things of that nature, when in reality we should be putting the money into prevention. Check out the red tide state of emergency declaration.
