Surf’s Up Surf Report: Red Tide is Upon Us

It finally made it here. The kids posted a few pictures showing the red tide fish kill here at Honeymoon Island. I thought I might see a few on the beach after seeing their post with dead fish laying in the seaweed. Here at the beach today they all appear to have been cleaned up. The respiratory irritation and watery eyes are very mild. The surf’s up at about knee high or less probably caused by this south wind.

A little squall just rolled in with hail-like rain pelting the windows on the car. It seems to be clearing at the moment. And in the process of typing this on the phone it just completely stopped. Surf is expected to continue through the evening, and through the weekend. A light rain may also linger for a while. Stepping outside now at 2:26pm the squall has cleared, and another may be following closely behind.  The surf is really fun! Probably still worth it!
