Sand Key

 

Sand Key Park is located on the peninsula named Sand Key.  It is considered a part of Clearwater Beach.  Beach and jetty access are through the park.  This spot is good on northwest swells. It is a consistent wave by the gulf’s standards.   It is notoriously difficult to surf.  It is a beach-break, so the wave often is full of sand.   It is most often surfed in the winter-time.

Hypothermia

Every year the gulf reaches temperatures that can cause hypothermia.  What happens when your body’s core temperature drops is your body will prepare for a potentially fatal situation.  It will allocate it’s resources to mantain life for as long as possible.
