The next front is just on our doorstep, and the only good wave maker for the next 7 days. On Tuesday afternoon the surf comes up accompanied by 20 knot winds straight out of the west. The temperatures will actually be rising into the mid 70s during the day on Tuesday, but after the west northwest winds arrive the temperatures will be falling into the 60s. Expect the surf to get bigger as the afternoon progresses. The Tuesday evening west swell direction is a good direction for most beaches. The next morning, Wednesday morning, the winds rise to 25 knot northwest winds. Late morning the wind direction shifts slightly north, eventually going slack around mid-day. This perfect windy cold front day, then cleanup day pattern is the absolute best pattern we could be in.
The front later in the week doesn’t look like much of a wave maker. Only 15 knot winds over the northern gulf aren’t likely to make much of a wave. We need to see more than that to get out the winter wave equipment. Surprisingly, the temperatures will be rising through the Friday/Saturday cold front.
